by Professor Richard Rose

In this video, Professor Richard Rose argues that a change of government after the next election will open opportunities for pragmatic piecemeal repair of Britain’s relations with the European Union. It will not create a mandate for rejoining the EU.

SPEAKER:

Richard Rose is professor of public policy at the University of Strathclyde Glasgow and a visiting fellow at the European University Institute Florence and the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin. In his new book, “How Sick is British Democracy? A Clinical Analysis” (published by Palgrave Macmillan and also available on Amazon) he gives a mixed verdict: it is healthy in parts, but mentally unbalanced in promoting a global Britain through a domestic foreign policy. The shock of a hung Parliament with the Scottish National Party holding the balance would remind Westminster it cannot ignore powers beyond it.
