In this video conversation, Dr Michael Lloyd of Global Policy Institute and our Director Brendan Donnelly discuss how, when and whether the UK will rejoin the EU. Michael advocates first joining the European Economic Area as a possible first step towards rejoining the European Union, while Brendan argues that it is more politically coherent to advocate rejoining the EU directly:

Dr Michael Lloyd is an Associate Director and Senior Research Fellow at the Global Policy Institute and the Chair of its Banking and Finance group. He is also a visiting fellow at Newcastle University and author of other books, including The Euro and the UK (2009) and Federal Central Banks (co-author, 2018). Michael was previously a European Commission Official and Director of International Affairs at British Shipbuilders, and has also run two small consultancy and software companies.

Brendan Donnelly is the Director of the Federal Trust and a former MEP.
