The Federal Trust, together with its partner Global Policy Institute at London Metropolitan University, has received funding from the European Commission Representation in the UK to undertake this new project, which will explore the impact of the UK Coalition Government’s European policy on Britain’s relations with the EU, and in particular the increasingly emerging proposition that the United Kingdom is becoming semi-detached from the EU. The project is building on our previous project “The Coalition’ European policy after the Honeymoon” which concluded that despite the apparent impression of “business as usual” in Britain’s relationship with the EU since the Conservative-Liberal Democrat Coalition government took office, an underlying hardening of attitudes towards the EU is taking place in British government circles.
