In a new video commentary, our Director Brendan Donnelly discusses the role of Brexit-related issues in the current Conservative leadership race. He compares the Conservative debate with the European discussion now taking place within the Labour Party.
He concludes that the main British political parties are failing to reflect growing public unhappiness with Brexit. They are joined in this failure by significant portions of the mass media, the commentariat and academia, who are unwilling even to engage in debate about the UK’s rejoining the EU.

SPEAKER:
Brendan Donnelly is the director of the Federal Trust and former Conservative MEP.
Thank you for your videos.
I share your disquiet that there seems to be no political voice expressing the view that seems at least common in the UK, that the UK would be better off in the EUI.
For me Starmer should be creating a vision for the UK, proftiting in financial and other ways from cooperation with its European neighbours.
