In this new video, our Chair John Stevens and  Director Brendan Donnelly discuss the new “Windsor Framework” for the Northern Ireland Protocol. They conclude that the agreement gives both sides most of what they sought to achieve. They do not believe that a similar agreement would have been possible with Boris Johnson or Liz Truss. They are uncertain whether the resolution of the Protocol controversy will be the precursor of general normalisation for EU/UK relations.
